“Am I burnt out or Lazy?”

When I googled Burn Out and what people generally ask about stress… “Am I burnt out or lazy?” was one of the top questions and it really shocked me.

I myself have lost teeth and struggled with sleep and digestive problems when chronically stressed. Let me explain more below…

Burn out comes when you ignore your own needs and you detach from who you are..... living day to day, head just above water.

When everyone else's needs come before your own. Burnout can creep up on you as feelings of fatigue, helplessness, numb to emotion, tension in the body and poor/disturbed sleep.

Personally, I found conversations were very superficial and didn’t bring me joy. Sleep very rarely left me feeling rested & I would find the smallest thing my family, particularly my kids would do annoying.

This cycle of annoyance at myself for being so easy to ‘snap’ and then feeling guilty for being a bad mum/wife led me even further into a state of burn out.

With grinding my teeth at night and then having my appendix out Xmas 2019 I had to make PREVENTION key to making sure I don’t burn out again.

Prevention to me means listening to my body when it feels tired. Talking more openly about the times I feel stressed and what is causing it. Carving out more time for myself in the week to do something that I enjoy. That can be as small as reading a chapter of a favourite book in the sun or enjoying a 30 minute swim.

BURN OUT
