The simplest and cheapest way to start improving your health……

With wellness becoming more and more monetised we wanted to share ONE simple thing you can do to feel better - immediately.

Since covid I got very into researching nasal breathing (specifically the Butekyo method). I wanted my lungs to be strong and my immune system working well to avoid getting the virus.

After focusing on nasal breathing I started to realise that I wasn’t breathing through my nose day to day at all. It appeared to me that actually in most settings I was a dreaded mouth breather! Since the beginning of this year I have been training to become an ‘Oxygen Advantage Instructor’ and its opened my eyes to so many reasons why we need to get our breathing back to how it should be.

Mouth breathing can lead to a number of illnesses/health complications we might be completely unaware of;

Allergies/Asthma - our nasal passage filters the air we breathe so if we breathe through our mouth the pollen particles go straight to our lungs creating a flare in our breathing.

Lower Back Pain - breathing through our mouth creates a shallow breath which doesn’t work our diaphragm, a strong diaphragm gives us a strengthened core and stronger back.

Poor Sleep Health/Snoring - loudly breathing through our mouth will create a dry mouth and snoring. This can lead to louder snoring and disturbed sleep.

and others.. (more to come later).

How To Breathe Properly.

Things to become conscious of:

  • Clear sinuses - using your fore and middle finger on each hand, place your finger tips at the bottom of your cheek bones and gently dragging away from your nose, you should feel the nasal passages open. Continue holding for a couple of minutes until you feel comfortable. (I use nasal dilators to improve the strength of my nose, due to sunken sinuses).

  • Focus on nasal breathing only. Using mouth tapes can really help you to focus on how you breathe during the day and night. I have been mouth taping now for over 2 months and have noticed how much better I sleep. I also mouth tape during my Personal Training session to speed up my heart rate recovery. You can use the steri tape from a first aid kit and criss cross it over your lips for 30 minutes.

  • Using the lower part of your lungs to breathe. Focus on your 2 bottom ribs moving outwards as you breathe in. This will help to strengthen your diaphragm and in turn improve your core strength.

You can focus on your natural state of breathing when you are in the float pod, you will become aware of your heart beating and the salt air will help clear your lungs.

We have been hosting breathwork combined with infrared sauna sessions, if you would like to kept up to date with our events sign up for our newsletter
